There is so much I wish I would have known before attending Stagecoach and I read so many blogs to prepare but little did I know that I was going to be over prepared. I first went to Stagecoach back in 2017 and I thought that I needed every small thing that every Coachella and Stagecoach guide had in it and this is what I learned. Now with Stagecoach being in October I feel like I can help anyone who wants to know anything about attending the festival!
1. Don't stress out about your outfits too much because odds you'll change them day of is huge! When I went in 2017 I bought so many things that I didn't even use! Less is more in the desert. It's hot, think about wearing shorts and a tank.
2. Think about shorts! I am so glad that I chose to wear shorts out in the desert. It is so hot out there and you can't do anything about the fact that you will sweat, so shorts are for sure the way to go. I think about wearing a denim skirt every year but my legs would have died.
3. BREAK IN YOUR BOOTS!! I made this mistake. I bought brand new boots in 2019 right before Stagecoach and I worse them once before going to the festival. That was a big mistake. I worse them on day 1 and I had the WORST blisters for the rest of the week.
4. Wear a small backpack. I personally am so thankful for wearing a backpack and not a purse because it holds more and it isn't in your way nearly as much as a purse would. I purchased a small leather backpack and I have used that backpack every single day I have ever attended the festival.
Moving on to contents I keep in my backpack:
1. Sunscreen: It is so hot and there’s very little shade at the polo fields so make sure you have a small bottle of sunscreen with you. I applied it to my chest and shoulders multiple times throughout the day.
2. Small Spray Bottle: Think of something the size of a roll on perfume. This is my favorite hack! I keep one of these in my backpack and when I am feeling too hot I can spray myself with water! My friends that came with me were so glad that I had this one me when we were melting in the sun.
3. Alcohol: You know the flat plastic water bottles that you can use to sneak alcohol onto cruises? Those work WONDERS for getting stuff into Stagecoach. Don't put these in your boots they will get taken but if you can strategically put them in your bag you'll have no problem getting it in and not paying for drinks all day.
4. Empty Water Bottle: I bring in an empty water bottle every year so I don't have to buy one and I refill it at the water station. This one has saved me so much money over the years.
5. Tissues: Its really dusty out there and sometimes I feel like I need a tissue, just my personal preference.
6. Bandana: This one is a MUST! Because it gets so dusty I feel like this helps me breath in significantly less dust! I either put it in my backpack or wrap it around my boot for the day.
These are what I make sure to have with me when I attend Stagecoach and these can definitely work for people attending Coachella as well! I wishI knew all of this before I went so I want to make sure that people know what to expect when attending a festival in the middle of the desert!
Feel free to reach out to me with any other questions you may have!
